Sony Music Entertainment (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/company.php?id=539) indicated (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/press-release/2009-09-03/becca-us-debut-ep-to-street-on-september-29-full-cd-coming-in-early-2010) in a September 3 press release that the Ultraviolet: Code 044 (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=9705) anime will be "coming out in [the] U.S. soon." The 2008 television anime series adapts Kurt Wimmer's 2006 live-action Ultraviolet film which starred Milla Jovovich. The anime spinoff premiered (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-03-27/anime-of-jovovich-ultraviolet-film-confirmed) in Japan last year. Acclaimed director Osamu Dezaki (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=65) (Ashita no Joe (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=456), Aim For The Ace! (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=405), Lupin III (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=3053) movies) worked with the animators of MADHOUSE (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/company.php?id=392) and Tezuka Productions (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/company.php?id=360). Singer/songwriter Becca (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=15500) already revealed at Otakon 2009 in July that she is voice-acting "044," although at the time, she was not certain of the American release plans.
Sony Music Entertainment's Red label is releasing the "Kickin' & Screamin'" EP from Becca in the United States on September 29. The five-song release includes three anime theme songs: Becca's "I'm Alive!" from the recent Kuroshitsuji (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=10160) (Black Butler) television anime, along with "Guilty Pleasure" and "Falling Down" from Ultraviolet: Code 044. Becca performed (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-06-01/kuroshitsuji-and-ultraviolet-becca-to-sing-at-otakon) a concert during her Otakon appearance, and her full U.S. debut album, Alive!!, is set for a 2010 release. The Portland native made her Japanese record label debut just last year with Sony (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/company.php?id=406) Music.
