LOL if it takes a company 17 years to fix anything thats deemed critical i think people need to switch LOL
Linux is always being worked on aggressive and secured =) and you can make it as secure as you want to be .

Whatever. None of the programs I use for my classes work on Linux (and I found it very hard to use since I'm not really a programmer) so I think I'll stick with Windows.

LOL for now thats the case, did you know the same was said about DOS when Apple ruled supreme? But atlast, some will evolve and use systems which are built and maintained by a better methodlogy of development and others like hospitals will be stuck running DOS LOL
The only reason such apps dont run on linux now is due to monopolostic preassures of microsoft, the more things go mobile and the more things move to net, the less you will see of microsoft as they are stuck in desktop land.
